LOCAL VIDEO – Call for Artists & Filmmakers

Our upcoming exhibition, LOCAL VIDEO, is scheduled for late winter—and while our exact timeline is still being finalized, submissions are officially open now.

We’re inviting artists and filmmakers of all ages to be part of a one-day visual and cinematic art experience celebrating the magic of movies—especially the joy, nostalgia, and creativity that defined film culture before video rental became a thing of the past.

Art Workshop: VHS Box Transformations

We’re looking for visual art that is:

  • Inspired by movies you love, movies you hate, or films that only exist in your imagination.

  • Fun, bold, and imaginative — think VHS covers, movie posters, title cards, dream sequences

  • 2D only: paintings, drawings, illustration, collage, printmaking, photography, or digital art designed to hang on a wall

  • Work that captures the feeling of picking a movie by the cover, watching with friends, or getting pulled into something weird and unforgettable

If your piece is rooted in cinema and made to live on a wall, we want to see it!

Short Films Wanted (5–10 minutes)

We’re looking for short films that are:

  • Fun, entertaining, and imaginative

  • New works or dusted-off gems from your archives

  • Any genre welcome — fiction, experimental, documentary, animation, comedy, genre mashups, you name it

  • Works that capture the spirit of watching movies with friends, the weirdness of local access TV, or the homespun energy of DIY filmmaking

Whether you’re shooting something fresh or revisiting those forgotten film reels, we encourage you to submit.
